SUMMARY OF MINUTES FROM MEETING ON 23/06/06

- Freshers' Week
§ A stall at the Freshers' Fair has been booked for both days.
§ We discussed the idea of emailing the list, asking for
volunteers for the Freshers' Fair, if it looks as though we will be short-handed.
§ We need to arrange a squash with food, wine and ideally
the possibility of showing some films from past Cinecam ventures and competitions.
§ We will also run a Freshers' 48-hour film-making competition,
as usual, but perhaps not until Week 3 or 4.
- Super 8 Competition
§ Rob raised the idea of running a super 8 competition. He will
produce a rough budget for this and we will discuss it again next term.
- Links with other Universities
§ It would be good to make contact with other university
filmmaking societies to trade films and enter our films into other competitions. Brian will
contact Bristol and Brighton Film School. Bella will contact Newcastle.
- Talks for Next Year
§ Brian will write some letters to people over the summer. We
hope to have Ken Loach as a speaker at some point.
- New Positions
§ We need a Technical Officer (urgent), Secretary and possibly
a Poster Designer. (We could try emailing the architects' list for the last of these.)
§ It might be a good idea to organise College Reps. This could
spread the load of postering/ flyering better and give us more options for room bookings.
- Sponsorship
§ As has been discussed before, seeking sponsorship could be a
valuable way forward for us, both with respect to funding and with respect to equipment.
§ Bella will contact Apple, Maplin and the Proctors' Office.
- Cinecam T-shirts
We discussed the possibility of getting Cinecam T-shirts or hoodies. These would distinguish the
committee at our various events and could also be made available for members to buy.
Bella will investigate the specifics and cost of this.
- Cinecam Film
Brian will contact Anthony Hinton to see how this is progressing.
