SUMMARY OF MINUTES FROM MEETING ON 18/10/06
| Present: | | Brian Lavery,
Rob Petit, Bella Wing-Davey, Kirsty Dootson,
Lydia Bell |
Apologies: | | Chris Chau |
- Society Officers
§ We appointed Jenny Chamarette 2nd Festival Manager.
§ We have had several responses regarding the position of Secretary.
We agreed that we would arrange to meet the candidates individually for 15-minute chats to decide who
would be best fitted to the role. We will be in The Anchor from 6-7.30pm on Monday 23rd, prior to the
screening of 'Waking Life', so will arrange to talk to them then.
§ We have had interest in the College Rep positions from Trinity
and Homerton so these two people will be appointed.
- Collaborations
§ CLAE Kirsty and Lydia met with Cevanne and Merilees from CLAE (Cambridge
Live Arts Exchange) on Monday. They were keen to work with us on a collaborative project, perhaps as
part of our Lent Term 48-hour competition. Various possibilities were discussed, including perhaps
running a joint workshop with them at the start of next term. The general consensus at the
committee meeting today was that we would be happy to support their projects in the background, and to
have further discussions later in term or at the start of next term, but that we would prefer to keep
the Cinecam 48-hour as a separate, more mainstream event.
§ SOCDOCSOC Brian, Rob and Bella will meet with SOCDOCSOC
on Sunday to discuss possible collaborations.
- Newspaper Articles
§ Varsity Rob will write a provisional article for the
Varsity Arts Column. Anyone who has points they wish to make should email them to Rob. The final
article needs to be submitted by the evening of Thursday 26th October in order to appear in Varsity
the next day.
§ TCS Rob will liaise with Josh Davies from TCS to set
up an interview with the Cinecam committee.
- Accounts
§ Lydia went in to the Proctors' Office on Monday. The Proctors have
not received accounts from Cinecam either for 2004-05 or for 2005-06. As a result of the former,
Cinecam was deregistered as a University Society in July. To become registered again, we need to
supply a summary of last year's accounts, a copy of our constitution and a card detailing the senior
officers of our society.
§ We will only be eligible to apply for funding after we have been
registered again. Lydia has all the paperwork pertaining to this.
§ We have sent two more emails to Meg since Monday, asking her to
get in touch about the accounts situation. There has been no response from her as yet.
§ Brian will email Chris to see when he will be returning.
- Constitution
§ Lydia retrieved a copy of our constitution from the Proctors on
Monday. We will discuss amendments at our next meeting.
- Events
§ Entry prices Members (full and half) will have free
entry to Josh's and Rob's talks and to Alan Dunnett's workshop. Non members will be charged £2.
§ Locations Bella will try to book a room in the English
Faculty at 8pm on 25th October for Rob's talk. Kirsty will try to book the Chetwynd Room in King's
for the launch of the Freshers' 48-hour competition.
- Freshers' 48-hour Competition
§ Equipment Brian is still checking about borrowing a
camera from King's Films. Rob will lend us his camera. Kirsty has ascertained that we will be able
to borrow a camera from Caius and also possibly from one of her friends. The second Cinecam camera
has yet to be returned and needs to be looked over to make sure that it is still in good working
order. This gives us between 3 and 6 cameras.
§ Registration The deadline for registration will be
Thursday 26th October.
§ Title We should all think of 3 or 4 ideas for titles
and send them to Kirsty.
- Film Screenings
§ Brian will email out the location for the screening of 'Waking
Life' on Sunday, dependent on numbers. It should be possible to project it onto the wall in Brian's
room, if this is where it will be shown.
§ We will decide on what films to show at our subsequent screenings
when we meet on Monday.
