SUMMARY OF MINUTES FROM MEETING ON 18/05/06
| Present: | | Brian Lavery,
Rob Petit, Chris Chau, Bella Wing-Davey, Kirsty Dootson,
Lydia Bell, Rahul Singhal, Anthony Hinton |
- Cinecam Film - discussion with Anthony and Rahul
§ Shooting is finished and the film is now being edited. It should
work out around 8 minutes long and be ready in time for May Week, when the plan is to show it at the
48 Hour Screening.
§ Bella will liase with Anthony and Rahul to help publicise
the film and send it out to festivals.
§ Anthony suggested that ADC techies might be interested in being
involved in films - also that the ADC Writers List and the English Department might provide routes
for encouraging more students to write short film scripts.
- Website
§ We agreed that we should add a section
to the website giving advice about submitting films to competitions.
§ Rob raised the idea of putting clips or trailers on the site. We
have 100Mb of space on the SRCF so this should be entirely feasible.
- Garden Party
§ The party will be 4-7pm on The Island at Darwin College on Friday,
June 23rd. We will invite members on a basis of RSVP, first come first served, as 50 people is the
maximum capacity of the Island. Entry will provisionally be free, with guests bringing their own bottle.
- 48 Hour Competition
§ The competition will run from midday on
Friday 16th June until midday on Sunday 18th June. Brian will try to book the Chetwynd room at King's
for giving out the title and setting the teams off on the Friday.
§ Bella and Kirsty will try to get prizes (probably DVDs and cinema
tickets) from various places around Cambridge.
§ Screening of the 48-hour films and the Cinecam film will be at
in Robinson College at 7.30pm on Friday 23rd June - directly after the Garden Party.
§ Pricing for the competition and screening have yet to be finalised
but will be something along the lines of £5 for non-members, £2 for half-members and free
for full members, with competition entrants getting free admission to the screening. The screening will
be £3 for everyone else, with possible reduced or zero entry fee for full or half members.
§ Rob will handle producing the posters and copying them at St John's.
We will all share the task of putting them out around Cambridge as soon as they are ready.
- Equipment
We discussed the question of how long people should be allowed to
borrow equipment and agreed that they should be allowed to take it as long as they needed, within reason,
if no-one else needed it. However, if more than one person applies to borrow equipment at the same time,
we will limit the borrowing period to a week at a time.
- Mayweek Meeting
We will meet in Mayweek to discuss plans for next year. The provisional date and place have been set as
the Granta on Newnham road on Monday 19th June, sometime in the afternoon.
