SUMMARY OF MINUTES FROM MEETING ON 07/05/06
| Present: | | Brian Lavery,
Rob Petit, Chris Chau, Bella Wing-Davey, Kirsty Dootson,
Lydia Bell, Meg Blight |
- Cinecam Film
§ Meg is still acting as Executive Producer for the
moment. Half of the shooting is completed and the remainder is to be done this week.
We will meet again to discuss the situation when shooting has been finished.
§ So far, over £100 has been spent on lighting
for the film and a further £120 will have to be spent for the upcoming shoot.
§ Rahul (Producer) and Anthony (Director) would like
a big screening launch party for the film, probably in May Week.
- Tuesday Screenings: Lightbox Collaboration
§ This term, and possibly subsequently, we will be
holding Tuesday screenings in conjunction with Lightbox Films, set up by a 1st Year
from King's.
§ We will screen 'Delicatessen' this Tuesday and then
take a break until the examinations are finished. Maria from Lightbox will send us an
e-mail to forward to the list.
- Publicity
§ Bella has been in touch with CUSU and we will
now have a stall on the Freshers' Fair 2006 and also appear in the Societies Booklet.
§ We discussed the possibility of the committee
getting T-shirts or hoodies with the Cinecam logo on them. We decided that the best
format would be a small logo with 'Cinecam' on the front and then a large logo,
possibly also with the word 'Cinecam', on the back. Bella will look into prices.
- Equipment
§ Lights Meg recommends buying lights,
as these have been one of our greatest expenses and also
the thing that amateur film-makers are least likely to own themselves. Another
possibility would be to liase with the ADC, who have suitable lighting equipment that
they might be willing to lend us - perhaps in return for filming some of their shows.
§ Insurance We will investigate various
insurance premiums for our
equipment. CUSP are currently experiencing difficulties paying for the insurance of
their camera so they might be willing to strike some sort of deal with us.
- Budget - Notes from Former Treasurer
§ Membership revenue We may need to raise membership prices if we are
going to buy new equipment. It is worth bearing in mind that we have tripled
membership by the introduction of Half Membership.
§ Accounts Our capital has reduced
from £1260 to £960 over the last year; this includes the purchase of
equipment and the loss made on the Festival.
§ Festival The Festival made a loss
of £30, the greatest expenses being guest rooms for our judges and publicity.
- May Week Activities
§ Committee Picnic The committee will
meet up after the exams are finished, in order to make a rough plan of
Michaelmas activities.
§ 48 Hour Film Challenge We will run a
48-hour film challenge probably on the first weekend of May Week, running into
Suicide Sunday. The screening will be the following Friday, 23rd June. Kirsty will
look into details for this as soon as her exams are over.
§ Garden Party We will host a Garden
Party, probably on the last Friday of May Week, to follow or precede the screening
of the 48-hour film challenge films. We will all look into the possibilities of
using gardens at our Colleges and also of what screening facilities might be available
for that day.
§ Screening of Cinecam Film We will
discuss this further with Anthony and Rahul but the current possibilities seem to be
(i) separate screening with the Oriental Society,
(ii) screen on 16th June at the Fitzwilliam Auditorium if Jon Rowe will permit it, or
(iii) screen at the 48-hour screening.
We could also ask Queens' films if they would be interested in showing it before
the main film at their May Week outdoor film screening, which always has a large
audience.
