48 HOUR FILM CHALLENGE: 3rd-5th November 2005

If you have no idea what a 48 hour film challenge is about, basically we give you a camera and a title (previous titles have been "the end", and "a piece of cake") and then you have 48 hours to write, shoot direct and edit the film. This time round you will be editing in the caret suite on Mill Lane on a mac, but don't worry if you've never used one before, there will be a tutorial given on Thursday [as part of your 48 hours] to show you how to edit and burn your movie onto DVD - which will be no longer than 5 minutes long. If you've never used a camera before that's not a problem either, we'll be showing everyone what to press and rotate on Thursday before it all gets going. You can enter as an individual [we'll put you in a team] or with a group of friends. Due to the restricted number of computers available in the caret suite though we're having to keep numbers quite restricted so email asap to register!! The films will be screened at some point in the following week - time and place to be confirmed - and the winner will get a prize. 2 of last years 48 hour films went on to get 1st and 4th places in the Cinecam end of year student Film Festival - 1st prize a free place at Brighton summer film school, which just shows you what sort of quality you can produce in such a limited time

Entry fees for the competition are as follows: FREE for full members [full membership costs 15 pounds and enables you to use Cinecam equipment [saving you buying your own..!] and attend Cinecam talks, screenings and workshops for free or at member's discount.] 1 pound for half members [half membership costs 5 pounds if you don't think you'll use the equipment, but would like to attend talks, screenings and workshops for free or at member's discount.] 3 pounds for non-members.
