WORKSHOP: SCRIPT TO FILM - WITH JOSH NEWMANThursday 9th March 8pm in the Queen's Building @ Emmanuel A workshop with Josh Newman, award winning shorts director. This event will continue on from the talk Josh kindly gave last term and will cover the steps that transform a script into a film. Topics will include visual design, pre-production, working with actors, sound design and some thoughts on editing. Josh will also be advising you how to avoid getting an ulcer before you begin shooting! Entry FREE for full and half-members, £2 for non-members.
APPLE VIDEO-EDITING TALK - BY ADAM BURTFriday 10th March 7pm in the Art History Department (map) Video Editing Talk with Adam Burt, as part of the Apple Distinguished Educator Programme. Adam Burt is a specialist in video editing and a Lecturer at Ravensbourne College of Design and Communication. FREE for all.
TALK: SCRIPTWRITING FOR FEATURE FILMS AND SHORTS - BY VICKI TUNGSaturday 11th March 4pm in the Munby Room @ King's How do you write a successful script for a feature or short film? A talk by script editor and BAFTA judge Vicki Tung will help. This promises to be a fascinating addition to the festival programme. Not to be missed if you're interested in writing or just film in general. Entry FREE for full and half-members, £2 for non-members.
CINECAM FESTIVAL SCREENINGSunday 12th March 7:30pm in the Fitzpatrick Hall @ Queens' The screening will be of the finest films made by Cambridge and APU students over the last year. Our panel of judges from the film industry will award prizes in the categories 'Best Film', 'Best Actor' (Male or Female), 'Best Cinematography', 'Best Sound' and 'Best Editing'. The special 'Brighton Film School Award', consisting in a place on Brighton Film School's 3-week summer course, will be awarded to the most promising film-maker. The judges this year are director Brian Skeet, award-winning short filmmaker Toby MacDonald and the Head of the Brighton Film School, Franz Von Habsburg. If you enter a film, entry to the screening is FREE. Otherwise, entry is FREE for full members, £2 for half-members and £4 for non-members.
REPARATORY NIGHTMonday 13th March 8pm in the Bateman Auditorium @ Caius To round off the festival we will be showing a mixture of films from previous festivals, ex-students and entries that could not be shown in this year's competition for those who just can't get enough short film. The reparatory night is FREE for members (full or half) and £1 for non-members.
