CELL - Film night

Date: 19:30, Saturday 3 November 2007
Venue: Winstanley Lecture Theatre, Trinity College
Organised by: Central European Society

We warmly invite you to the screening of „The Unbearable Lightness of Being“ on Saturday, 3rd of November, at 7:30 pm in Winstanley Lecture Theatre at Trinity College.

It is the star cast adaptation of the famous novel by Milan Kundera, one of the most renowned Central European authors, starring Daniel Day Lewis, Juliette Binoche, Lina Olin and Derek de Lint, and directed by Philip Kaufman (1988, 110 min).

The story of three interlocking relationships, set in Prague, Geneva and the Czech countryside, is told against the background of the Prague Spring – the social and political changes in Czechoslovakia, brought to an abrupt and tragic end by the Soviet invasion in August 1968.

Come and let your mind be stirred by the story – and to admire the masterful way in which the real archive footage was seamlessly combined with the material shot in the Prague cityscape meticulously recreated… in Lyon (for political reasons, the film could not be shot in Prague)!
