The 2007 CUCES Literary Event was (or was supposed to be) ‚metalinguistic‘ – which, in hindsight, turned out to be a rather offputting word, more than efficient in reducing the potential size of the audience. However, despite the initial fear and confusion, the event proved to be a unique opportunity to familiarize oneself with Central European literature (concerned primarily, but not exclusively, with such issues as the rise of linguistic consciousness of Central European nations, the solidification of their linguistic identity and the experimental capacity of language, manifested predominantly in humorous texts, full of puns, wordgames etc.) and discuss their various aspects in a friendly and intimate atmosphere.
