Talk by the Czech Ambassador

The Czech Ambassador, Jan Winkler was born in 1957 and is currently married and the happy father of three children. Having completed his legal studies at Charles University in Prague he went on to practice in the capacity of a company lawyer for the Czechoslovak State Railways between 1981–1990, following which he moved on to become the Registrar & Secretary of Charles University until 1995. His political career started off with the Czech Foreign Ministry, where his first major appointment was to the post of Deputy Minister between 1997 – 1999, with a second term as Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs in Charge of the Security Policy between 2003 – 2005.

Furthermore, Mr Winkler was fulfilling his duties between 1994 – 1999 as Chairman of the National Gallery Board and at present he is a pillar member of the Masaryk Democratic Movement. Between his two terms as Deputy Foreign Minister he made his living as a Principal Consultant at the notable firms of Pricewaterhou­seCoopers and IBM Business Consulting.
