The formal at New Hall was quite a memorable experience, not only due to fantastic company. It was a "Children in Need Fancy Dress Formal Hall', thus the rather un-Cambridge-like dining hall of New Hall swarmed with pretty girls dressed up as rabbits, bees, teddy bears and other cute animals. Our crew looked somewhat official in this menagerie, although it featured a cowboy and a phantom from the opera. Infantile dress affected behaviour which resulted in flying potatoes and lots of ice-cream on the table and clothes. But hey, that was the point!
