Corpus Christi College Pictures is one of many film societies at Cambridge University. Open to both members of the university and the general public,
it differs from the other societies in its aim to screen art house films. Films are now shown on Tuesdays at 8pm during full term. This means
that during the Michaelmas and Lent Terms, eight films a term are shown, whilst in the Easter Term, only three films are screened in the short period
before examinations begin. Entry price is £2.
Films are shown in the McCrum Theatre, situated in Bene't St., opposite St. Bene't's Church and behind the Eagle pub
(map). Access for films is via the alley which runs along side the Eagle Pub - go through two gates and the entrance to the
theatre is directly ahead. The theatre has a capacity of 150, with disabled access to the building and theatre available, but we do need to be
informed (cccp@corpus.cam.ac.uk) at least a day before a film if a wheelchair needs to be accommodated so
that seats can be removed to make room.
The main stage has drop-down front and back projection screens. The front one which we use measures approximately 20 feet across and is the
appropriate height to show a widescreen film at full width. The projection equipment consists of an LCD projector linked to a 4 head Nicam video
player. The sound output is fed through a high quality mixer and amplifier and then into the built-in stereo speakers, giving an amazing level of
audio power and clarity. The theatre also has a built in induction loop - it would be handy but not essential to know beforehand if this is required.
