Week 0 - Holiday and SEEC Sharing

Acts 1:8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth."

Dear brothers and sisters,

Welcome back to Cambridge for those who have been away, and also greetings to those being around in the holidays.

For Week 0 we have our holiday and SEEC sharing. This is a great opportunity to share with our fellow brothers and sisters how God's almighty power has affected or even transformed our lives this Eastertide! Often the sharing of our witness is the most effective way to show our brothers and sisters, both believers and non-believers, the Power and the Love our Father has for us, and also to boost our Faith in Him!

For brothers and sisters who wish to share please can they contact Natasha (cyl31@cam.ac.uk), and prepare a sharing no longer than 10 mins.

*** DINNER ***
Hilda's (ex-Anna's) group will be cooking dinner this week. Anyone who can come to help with cooking and/or washing up, please let Hilda (htht2@cam.ac.uk) know and arrive at Henry Martyn Hall at 5:30pm.

IMPORTANT: PLEASE email jfdinner@yahoo.co.uk if you are not on default list but would like to have dinner (with subject: I would like to join for dinner this Wednesday!). This is essential as we need to prepare enough food for everybody.

Singspiration THIS Wed (REPLY NEEDED)

Dear brothers and sisters,

Hope you had a great Easter and welcome back to those who returned from SEEC today.

I've got a piece of exciting news to share (sorry I haven't consulted you Michelle, hope you don't mind but I feel that together in Christ we should share and pray and rejoice in the Lord!)

Michelle, welcome to the loving family of God!!! :)

Just a quick update (with some GREAT NEWS :D) about Singspiration this Wednesday.

********* VERY VERY IMPORTANT *********
1. Dinner
If you are coming to dinner on Wednesday, you MUST email to jfdinner@yahoo.co.uk by Wednesday NOON. This applies to EVERYONE - even committee members, musicians and worship leaders (inclusive but NOT exhaustive :P).

With excitement I announce that our dear sister JENNY is taking her Easter break here at the UK and has kindly offered to cook for us this Wednesday! Those of you (*us ;)) who have been missing Jenny's delicious cooking, come and REMEMBER to send an email to jfdinner@yahoo.co.uk!
**************************************************
2. Worship
If you wish to lead, even just one song, please email Janis BY WEDS NOON the list of songs you'd like to lead, preferably cc-ed to all other worship leaders (Ar C, Natasha, Alan, Peggy?, Danice?) and musicians (Anna, Benny and Helen). I will not give email addresses of everyone here - if you haven't got everyone's contact, please send the songs to Janis (jl421@cam.ac.uk) and Helen (hyhy2@cam.ac.uk) and we'll pass your message round to the others.

According to Janis it is up to you to decide how many songs/how long you'd like to lead but in general 10-15 mins will do.

The JF song list could be obtained online at http://www.srcf.ucam.org/camjoshua/songs.htm

And, quoting and agreeing with Janis -
"feel free to do a bit of verse sharing etc. :)"
"GET KEEN! ^^ Is anything better than praising our Lord?! =D"
**************************************************
3. To worship leaders and musicians

Yes I am including the below as a separate notice because it is important. Please can all worship leaders and musicians arrive no later than 5pm if you have sent Janis the songs you wish to lead before weds noon, and arrive at 4:30pm if you have not email Janis beforehand so that we have ample time to get organised and prepare and practice and pray :)
**************************************************
4. Cooking on Weds
If anyone of you would wish to help Jenny buy food and/or cook please email Janis (jl421@cam.ac.uk) so that she can tell Jenny.
**************************************************
5. Prayers
Michelle Tam will be leading a Taize worship session at the end which includes a prayer session. If any brother and sister have got any special prayer items please let Janis (jl421@cam.ac.uk) know. Alternatively let her know on the night.

That's all for now and I look forward to meeting you all this Wednesday!

Praises to the Lord,
Helen

Tears in heaven - recruitment

Dear all,

Please see the attached message concerning the forthcoming evangelistic musical 429.

**************************************************
Dear Joshua Fellowship brothers and sisters

As you know the evangelistic musical 429 - 'Tears in Heaven' is coming soon and we are recruiting certain number of b/s to help in each sector below:

*Secondary actors - little bit of acting (+ few lines)
*Lighting - control the brigtness of lights
*Digital Audio/Visual preparation and control - control the sound effect, music, subtitles, pictures
*Backstage - move props during the musical, get the clothes ready for the actors, make up(?!)
*Operation and setup team - Set up and decorate the venue, align chairs, set up lighting and scenes, draw/close curtains, set up for refreshment

These are simple but important jobs, without them the musical cannot be run. He who calls you is faithful (1Th 5:24). Do not fear (Isa 41:10) for fear does not come from God. God gives us talents. Don't hide your talents away. At the end of the day, you will hear, 'Well done, good and faithful servant.'(Matt25:21).

If you are interested or you want to try or you have any questions, please contact Sam (MYT23) or me (JL393).

Knowing that there's no JF these weeks, if you want some flyers for your potential guests, please let us know how many you want and we'll send them to you via UMS.

The poster and ticket are attached.

In Him
Joyce

Informal meeting - Singspiration

Dear brothers and sisters,

" 1 Come, let us sing for joy to the LORD;
let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation.

2 Let us come before him with thanksgiving
and extol him with music and song.

3 For the LORD is the great God,
the great King above all gods."~Psalm 95:1-3
Let us all come and sing praises to our Lord! Next Wednesday 19th April (not the coming one) we'll have a Singspiration session where we, as beloved sons and daughters of God, worship him in music and sing songs of Love to Him.

If you are interested in leading worship (about 15/20 mins per person) or in being musicians, please let Janis (jl421@cam.ac.uk) before THIS WEDNESDAY (12th April).

We will be organising dinner for the meeting this time, from 6.30pm as usual.
***IMPORTANT***
You MUST send a message to jfdinner@yahoo.co.uk (do not reply to this account) if you are coming for dinner, WHETHER YOU ARE ON THE DEFAULT DINNER LIST OR NOT. Unlike before we really do need to estimate the no. of people having dinner this time so please REMEMBER to do so.

Please continue to pray for the coming SEEC (commensing this Thursday at Wokingham), and for the new committees who will be meeting soon to decide Joshua Fellowship's direction in the coming year.

Helen

A life story to share

Dear brothers and sisters,

Are you tired from revision/project/work?
Drained? Frustrated? Lacking motivation?

Spare a minute and read the following story of Christina Tsai,
it changed my attitude towards hardship, and may change yours too.

God Bless,
Helen
