Week 8 - worship + cookies making + singpiration + prayer meeting

Dear brothers and sisters,

This coming Wednesday, although some of us will be rehearsing for the Christmas Evening at Eden Chapel but we'll still have our weekly meeting at HMH as usual!

In this week's meeting we'll have some fun:

1. cookies-making session
- cookies are made for everyone who serve in the Christmas Evening as a word of thank you

2. singspiration (theme: Be Joyful)
- hymns and songs sharing (which is different from worship)

3. prayer meeting for Christmas Evening

***Photos from the Activity evening in Week 6 are available on our website in the Photos session now. Go and have a look! (Website address please see bottom of message)

***Joanna's group will be preparing for dinner this week and since brothers and sisters from CCCF serving in the Christmas Evening will join us for dinner, we'll need to prepare more food than usual. Do come and help out if you can! Please let Joanna (otjw2@cam.ac.uk) know if you are able to help on the day (with food shopping and cooking).

If you are not on the default dinner list OR if you are going to be late for dinner, please send an email to jfdinner@yahoo.co.uk as well so we can reserve a dish for you. This is essential as we need to prepare enough food for everybody.

God Bless,
Helen

Week 7 - Bible Study 3 (**Acts 15 ONLY**)

Dear brothers and sisters,

We realised there are quite a lot to cover in both Acts 15 and 16 so for the coming Wednesday we will ONLY focus on Acts 15 - the Council at Jerusalem.

Again please try and read the passage at least once before Wednesday - we have only one hour to go over everything and we want to get the most out of it!

You can refer to the relevant bible passage here:
English - http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Acts%2015&version=31
Chinese - http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Acts%2015;&version=22

As usual there will be seeker's group and QT(quiet-time) sharing this week.

The cold wind is hollering outside but don't let our burning desire to know more about God die out!

Love in Christ,
Helen

Week 7 - Bible Study 3 (Acts 15-16)

Dear brothers and sisters,

Continuing from last time's bible study (in Week 5), in the last bible study session of the term (this week) we'll look at the life of Paul after he has returned from his first missionary journey.

A brief introduction:
We'll begin by the Council at Jerusalem and see how Paul discussed (debated?) with the apostles and the elders, regarding several important issues surrounding the centre of our belief. We will see the first appearance of Timothy, who joined Paul and Silas on their second missionary journey. We will also look at what happened when Paul and Silas were in Prison in Philippi.

Dinner at 6.30pm this Wed as usual and you're very welcome to come and help.
If you are going to be late for dinner please send an email to jfdinner@yahoo.co.uk as well so we can reserve a dish for you.

*** DINNER ***
Natasha's group will be cooking dinner this week.
Anyone who can come to help with cooking and/or washing up, please let Natasha (cyl31@cam.ac.uk) know and arrive at Henry Martyn Hall at 5:30pm.

IMPORTANT: PLEASE email jfdinner@yahoo.co.uk if you are not on default list but would like to have dinner (with subject: I would like to join for dinner this Wednesday!). This is essential as we need to prepare enough food for everybody.

Week 5 - Bible Study 2

Dear brothers and sisters,

To those of you who were not here last time (this also serves as a reminder for those who joined bible study on Wednesday), we began this year's bible studies by looking at the first half of the 1st missionary trip Paul and the other disciples made along the north-east coast of the Mediterranean Sea (Acts 13).

In the coming Wednesday's meeting we will continue by looking at the second half of the journey (Acts 14), seeing how God led them and showed wonders to the Jews and Gentiles through them.

Again you are strongly recommended to read through the passages in advance so to facilitate discussion during the Bible Study. The passage isn't very long this time and is rather descriptive(i.e easy to grasp what's going on in the first read) - you may want to try read the Bible passage in different perspectives, and find out what God wants to teach us through the various miracles and events in the passage.

If you don't have a Bible in hand you can read the above passages from below:

English:
http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=acts%2014&version=31

Chinese:
http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=acts%2014;&version=22;

There will be seekers' group and group-based quiet-time sharing this week.

Getting into the middle of Mich term and towards the end of the calendar year, I have heard people moaning about their busy (or even over-worked) life, and about many troubles and difficulties they have been through recently. By chance I came across this Bible verse which I find pretty encouraging -

"What does the worker gain from his toil? I have seen the burden God has laid on men." - Ecc 3:9-10

Paraphrasing the Chinese translation of this verse, it said 'I see God let men been through toils, so that we are to experience and be trained in them'

So don't be discouraged when you come across difficulties because it is through these that we grow up in Christ :)

Dinner at 6.30pm this Wed as usual and you're very welcome to come and help.
If you are going to be late for dinner please send an email to jfdinner@yahoo.co.uk as well so we can reserve a dish for you.
