Week 4 - Bible Study 1

Dear brothers and sisters,

Getting into Week 4 of Michelmas Term I hope you are not too busy to become exhausted. To freshers especially, hope you have more or less settled at Cambridge already :)

This week I've got a few pieces of news and reminders for you -

1. Bible Study 1 (THIS WED)
2. Winter camp
3. Dinner default list
4. Term card
5. Prayer list
******************************************
1. Bible Study 1 (THIS WED)

Many thanks to Uncle Alan for a thorough briefing on the Book of Acts last time. In the coming meeting we will begin by looking at how God called Paul and his fellow worker, Barnabas.

On the term card it says the bible study will be based on Acts chapter 13 but to have a better picture of the history background we will also read the following verses:

Acts 7:54-8:3; 9:1-31;

You are strongly recommended to read through the passages in advance so to facilitate discussion during the Bible Study. Although the passages seem quite long they are pretty descriptive so shouldn't take too long to read. If you don't have a Bible in hand you can read the above passages from below:

English:
http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Acts%207:54-8:3;%209:1-31;%2013:1-52&version=31

Chinese:
http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Acts%207:54-8:3;%209:1-31;%2013:1-52;&version=22

There will be seekers' group and group-based quiet-time sharing this week.

2. Winter camp

Another reminder for Winter Camp! If you haven't signed up for a place, do it quickly before places run out! You can contact Anna(anna.wong@cantab.net) or Cherry(cww24@cam.ac.uk) for further details.

3. Dinner default list

Do you come to Joshua's dinner every Wednesday yet is tired of having to send in emails to reserve meals every week? We have set up a dinner default for regular diners. If you haven't put your name down on the list, send an email to jfdinner@yahoo.co.uk and we'll reserve a delicious meal for you every Wednesday.
******************************************
4. Term card

Most of you should have got a paper copy of Joshua's Michelmas Term term card. Alternatively you could download an electronic copy from our website (Term Card session).
******************************************
5. Prayer list

Have you realised we have a prayer list on Joshua's website? It contains JF or CCCC related prayer items. Prayer is one key foundation stone for running a fellowship and a church and we encourage you not only to pray for brothers and sisters in Christ, but also for our fellowship and church.

If you have any prayer items which you would like to add on the prayer list please let Jowie(chjy2@cam.ac.uk) know.
******************************************
Thanks for bearing with this relatively long email and hope to see you on Wednesday!

Dinner at 6.30pm as usual and you're very welcome to come and help.
If you are going to be late for dinner please send an email to jfdinner@yahoo.co.uk as well so we can reserve a dish for you.

Week 3 - Introductory Talk

Dear brothers and sisters,

Do you know what our new year theme is? Yes it's 'IGNITE!'

Last year we learnt from Jesus's teaching in Matthew on how to be 'Salt and Light', and be the witness of our Father in Heaven in front of everyone. This year we will look at the Book of Acts and learn from the disciples from the church, seeing how they IGNITEd their lives (not physically of course) and lead people to Jesus.

There will be an introductory talk this Wednesday on the Bible study topics covered in this coming year, as well as some background information regarding Acts - the book in the Bible which we will focus on in the year. If you have never attended a Bible study session, we will also briefly discuss what Bible Study is about.

Dinner at 6.30pm as usual and you're very welcome to come and help.

*** DINNER ***
Natasha's group will be cooking dinner this week.
Anyone who can come to help with cooking and/or washing up, please let Natasha (cyl31@cam.ac.uk) know and arrive at Henry Martyn Hall at 5:30pm.

IMPORTANT: PLEASE email jfdinner@yahoo.co.uk if you are not on default list but would like to have dinner (with subject: I would like to join for dinner this Wednesday!). This is essential as we need to prepare enough food for everybody.
