Week 5 - Bible Study 2
Dear brothers and sisters,
To those of you who were not here last time (this also serves as a reminder for those who joined bible study on Wednesday), we began this year's bible studies by looking at the first half of the 1st missionary trip Paul and the other disciples made along the north-east coast of the Mediterranean Sea (Acts 13).
In the coming Wednesday's meeting we will continue by looking at the second half of the journey (Acts 14), seeing how God led them and showed wonders to the Jews and Gentiles through them.
Again you are strongly recommended to read through the passages in advance so to facilitate discussion during the Bible Study. The passage isn't very long this time and is rather descriptive(i.e easy to grasp what's going on in the first read) - you may want to try read the Bible passage in different perspectives, and find out what God wants to teach us through the various miracles and events in the passage.
If you don't have a Bible in hand you can read the above passages from below:
English:
http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=acts%2014&version=31
Chinese:
http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=acts%2014;&version=22;
There will be seekers' group and group-based quiet-time sharing this week.

Getting into the middle of Mich term and towards the end of the calendar year, I have heard people moaning about their busy (or even over-worked) life, and about many troubles and difficulties they have been through recently. By chance I came across this Bible verse which I find pretty encouraging -
"What does the worker gain from his toil? I have seen the burden God has laid on men." - Ecc 3:9-10
Paraphrasing the Chinese translation of this verse, it said 'I see God let men been through toils, so that we are to experience and be trained in them'
So don't be discouraged when you come across difficulties because it is through these that we grow up in Christ :)
Dinner at 6.30pm this Wed as usual and you're very welcome to come and help.
If you are going to be late for dinner please send an email to jfdinner@yahoo.co.uk as well so we can reserve a dish for you.
*** DINNER ***
QQ's group will be cooking dinner this week.
Anyone who can come to help with cooking and/or washing up, please let QQ (qh205@cam.ac.uk) know and arrive at Henry Martyn Hall at 5:30pm.
IMPORTANT: PLEASE email jfdinner@yahoo.co.uk if you are not on default list but would like to have dinner (with subject: I would like to join for dinner this Wednesday!). This is essential as we need to prepare enough food for everybody.
