I hope everyone is enjoying their summer holiday. As the Bile says, we should never give up meeting together, so Joshua will be holding some formal and informal getherings in the summer in Hong Kong, where many of our brothers and sisters are currently in.

Time flies, and the end of another academic year is approaching. This Wednesday, we'll be having our last official JF gathering for the academic year - Farewell Party. Before we set off our separate journeys soon after this, let us all join together to wowrship, to share, to pray and to have some great FUN. To give us more time for the feast before the main program, dinner will start at 6pm this wednesday.

Leavers, you are particularly invited to join the party, and it would be nice if some of you (or all) can share with us some of your feelings towards Joshua Fellowship. On behalf of the fellowship, I'd also like to send our blessings to each of the leavers. May the familiar verse above be your encouragement always. Apart from the official JF gathering on Wednesday, we will be having an informal gathering *BBQ* on this coming Thursday (14/6), utilizing the lovely weather these days. Details are as follow:

Venue: Man Yi's house at Cranmer road, next to Corpus Christi playing field off Grange road. (please ask me if you don't know where exactly it is)
Activity: BBQ, outdoor games, sports games etc.
(There is a tennis court, squash court, table tennis tables, a swimming pool, a football pitch and a nice garden!)

I know it must be really tempting not go to Joshua given that that exams are a week, or even a few days away. However, let us learn from the Bible, and DON’T GIVE UP MEETING together!

To encourage you all to carry on coming to Joshua in this stressful period, we will be having SHORTENED MEETINGS for 3 consecutive weeks from this Wednesday onwards. Dinner will still start at 6.30pm, but the main program will end at 8.30pm, and you are free to get back to your EXCITING work.

This week, we will have an hour of Singspiration, where we will sing hymns and songs to praise our Lord, who gives us the WISDOM to come to Cambridge, AND graduate at Cambridge!

We are please to have Pastor Komee to give us a conclusive talk on FAITH this Wednesday. It will surely give us a nice summary of what we have learnt this year and encourage all of us continue to "Grow In Faith"!

Week 2 - Bible Study on Moses

In the Old Testament of the Bible, Moses and Elijah are no doubt the biggest prophets with immense faith in God. Last term, we have done the Bible study on Elijah, and this week, we are going to look at Moses, a prophet "whom the Lord knew fact to face"! The Bible passage we will focus on are Exodus 32:7-12 and Numbers 14:1-19. Do come and find out how Moses served God faithfully.

Week 1 - Joint Fellowship, Talk on Biblical Healing, Change of Venue

Even if you are those who never bother to read this JF weekly e-mail, please read this, as there will a CHANGE OF VENUR in this week fellowship. There will be NO dinner nor fellowship in Henry Martyn Hall as usual, instead, the fellowship with will be held in St. Columbus Church at the same time with dinner provided at 6.30pm. Details are as follow:

We will be joining ROCK Fellowship this week on Wed for a joint fellowship. (ROCK Fellowship is the English fellowship also under CCCC) Dr. Ben Brown, a pastor from Singapore will be giving a talk on "Biblical Healing - Making the Bible says what it doesn". There will also be an open discussion to any biblical question you may want to ask about. This is a brilliant chance to learn more about the Bible and God, so do come along! Dinner will be provided at 6.30pm and the main program starts at 7.30pm. The venue will be in St. Columbas Church, Downing Street (the church where CCCC holds the service). Please feel free to contact any of the committee members if you don't know how to get there.

Welcome back to Cambridge for those who have been away, and also greetings to those being around in the holidays.

1. Week 0, Holiday Sharing

For Week 0, we have our holiday and SEEC sharing. This is a great opportunity to share with our fellow brothers and sisters how God's almighty power has affected or even transformed our lives this Eastertide! Often the sharing of our witness is the most effective way to show our brothers and sisters, both believers and non-believers, the Power and the Love our Father has for us, and also to boost our Faith in Him!

For brothers and sisters who wish to share, please contact Danice at yln21@cam.ac.uk and prepare a sharing no longer than 10 mins.

Eva's (ex-Hilda's) group will be cooking dinner this week. Anyone who can come to help with cooking and/or washing up, please let Eva (eysc2@cam.ac.uk) know and arrive at Henry Martyn Hall at 5:15pm.

It is therefore all to Him and His glory that we attribute this production to :)

This week we will be studying bible passages related to Joshua in more details, referring to the days when Joshua led the people of Israel into the Promised Land. Here we can see how his faithfulness has found him favour in the eyes of God, and how we should all aspire to be a faithful young leader like Joshua.

2. "How can a good God allow suffering and evil?" a talk by UCCF

University and Colleges Christian Fellowship (UCCF) are organsing a high profile lecture and debate tour of William Lane Craig in March. They will be in Cambridge this Friday. If you've not come across Bill Craig before, you may have come across some of his books, such as "Reasonable Faith". He is a world class speaker. Even though he is an philosophy academic, he is an exceptionally clear communicator and evangelist at heart.

3. Audition invitation from the Cambridge University Christian Drama Society

Dear Christian brothers and sisters,

We would like to involve you in a really exciting project! We're planning to
produce a wholly original Christian play at the end of April this year. For
those of you who've been to "Tears in Heaven" - a very successful Christian
musical produced in both Cambridge and in Hong Kong last year - you will
know exactly what we're talking about! The same producer and his team is
currently working on another production this year. Most of the
administrative planning has been completed and now we're in the most
exciting stage of the production: involving all of you in the drama! The
production itself is scheduled on 27 and 28 April.

We have formally established ourselves as a society within the University of
Cambridge, known as 'Cambridge University Christian Drama Society', and we
believe in utilising drama (primarily but not exclusively) to spread the
Gospel of Jesus Christ. We feel this has been a relatively under-utilised
avenue for evangelism, and our vision is to see drama become one of the
forefront channels of spreading the Gospel. This is the first year of our
inception, and we are seeking people from the JF who are interested in
joining us this year. You don't need any prior drama or production
experience. All you need is enthusiasm for the Gospel! Some knowledge in
understanding or speaking Cantonese is preferred, but not entirely
necessary.

Our secondary method of evangelism is to provide opportunities for
non-Christians that would like to know more about Christian values to
participate actively in the production effort. Based on last year's
experience in producing 'Tears in Heaven', we find that we have been able to
evangelise very successfully to non-Christians who were actively involved in
the production team itself. Any profits will be donated to a registered
Christian charitable organisation.

If you would like to be involved in this exciting project, please do feel
free to contact us! You can choose to be involved in all sorts of roles, be
it backstage management, part of the lighting team or even in front stage
acting. If you are interested in acting for this production, we will be
holding auditions next week. This is primarily to let us get to know you
better, and also an opportunity for you to get to know us as well.

Saturday 10th March, 3:00pm and
Sunday 11th March, 4:30pm

Short introduction of the drama plot:
In a remote village in ancient China, there was a boy whose dream was to be
rich and successful. His ambition propelled him to place wealth and fame
above all other things... Until one particular day, when tragedy struck and
his life was completely changed, for something other than money saved his
life...

It is truly our prayer that, through this production, more people
(especially Chinese) in Cambridge will come to know Christ! And we also
truly hope that you can be part of our team to make this vision come true!

1. "Can We Show that Christianity is True?" Talk by Dr. Lee Wang Yen

Christians believe that there is a God and Jesus is God incarnate who resurrected from the dead to save us from our sins. Do we have good reasons to think that these beliefs are true? Or should we accept them as merely articles of faith? Many Christians believe that the only way to maintain their religious faith in a scientific age is to hold radically different attitudes towards the truth-claims of religion and those of science – the latter can be accepted as (probably or approximately) true rationally whereas the former can only be accepted by a leap of faith. Are they right?

Dr Wang-Yen Lee is a PhD student in philosophy of science at the Department of History and Philosophy of Science, University of Cambridge, and will be explore this exciting subject with us this Wednesday. The talk will be conducted in English. Feel free to invite any of your friends to come along!

Happy Chinese New Year! So how did you spend your Chinese New Year and your Valentine's Day last week? For many of us, we celebrated it together in the love of our fellow brothers and sisters - and yet, still, you feel there is something missing in your life? It's the time of year to celebrate the Chinese New Year and JF's 9th Anniversary with fellow brothers and sisters again! =) A night of food and fun, but more importantly to enjoy the family atmosphere in our big JF family together! 2. SEEC 2007 - Applications and Offering

2 Cor 8:14-15 "At the present time your plenty will supply what they need, so that in turn their plenty will supply what you need. Then there will be equality, 15as it is written: "He who gathered much did not have too much, and he who gathered little did not have too little." "

This week again we will be receiving applications centrally for SEEC 2007. For those who weren't here last week, SEEC is the South England Easter Conference, a big retreat camp of 5 days 4 nights gathering fellow Brothers and Sisters from various University Fellowships in South England during the Easter Weekend. For more details please visit http://www.seec2007.org .

As mentioned last week, the camp fee in total inclusive of transport both ways is 100GBP per person. However, following the Apostle Paul's principle as stated in the above bible passage in 2 Cor 8:14-15, we operate on a princple of each affording a certain amount, with the rest paid on the basis of offering. Therefore we will be collecting an offering for SEEC this week, appealing to brothers and sisters both intending or not intending to attend SEEC. Also, for those who are attending please hand in your application form and camp fee of 50GBP (with any extra as a form of offering) to Uncle Anthony. Any questions please do not hesitate to ask Uncle Anthony or any member of the committee.

I lost my cookbook and I last saw it on Wednesday so I
believe I might have left it in Harry Martin Hall in Joshua
last Wednesday (31/1).

As I am really stuck with my work right now, I won't be able
to come to Joshua this Wednesday to look for it. If you see
a thin colourful cookbook with both Chinese and English
descriptions, and it is also tailored for 'philipine's cooks'(?) [original message lost] please keep it and return it to me at the next instance.

Romans 12:2 Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

As mentioned in the last term, this week will be the second talk in the series led by Rev Wong (aka Uncle Alan) on Seeking God's Will. This week we will focus on seeking God's will with the focus on Leadership and Servitude. Promise to be truly inspiring and may even give you a hint on what awaits you in the future!

Ever wondered why Joshua Fellowship is called Joshua Fellowship? Who is Joshua anyway? What biblical importance does he have? At last, the time has come for us to study Joshua in more detail. There will be two bible study sessions dedicated to studying Joshua this term, with the first part focusing on Joshua's part as a leader before the death of Moses.

Welcome back to Cambridge for those who have been away, and also greetings to those being around in the holidays! ^^

For Week 0 we have our holiday sharing. This is a great opportunity to share with our fellow brothers and sisters how God's almighty hands has been at work in our lives this Christmas and New Year! Often the sharing of our witness is the most effective way to show our brothers and sisters, both believers and non-believers, the Power and the Love our Father has for us, and also to boost our Faith in Him!
