C.A.C.T.U.S. - Constitution
I. This document and all rules and regulations herein are the constitution of the society known as C.A.C.T.U.S..
II. The name of the society shall be C.A.C.T.U.S., hereinafter referred to as "the Society".
III. The main aim of the Society shall be to meet at times convenient to members in order to play games of all sorts including board games, card games, role playing games and computer games subject to availability of these games (such meetings hereinafter being referred to as "Meetings").
IV. Membership shall be extended to all members of the University. Membership may be extended to others at the discretion of the Committee. No application will be refused on grounds of race, sex, sexuality, religion or political views, but the Committee has the right to expel members for behaviour likely to bring the Society into disrepute.
V. Meetings.
I. As stated in the aims of the Society, Meetings shall occur at times convenient to members. Members will be informed and should inform the Secretary if they plan to attend a particular meeting.
II. The Committee may hold a meeting apart from the rest of the Society as and when it is deemed necessary for constitutional purposes.
III. An Annual General Meeting will be held during the Lent Full Term on a pre-arranged date to which all members may attend without notice for purposes of elections and other such requirements as may arise.
IV. An Extraordinary General Meeting may be called with the approval of the Committee for any extraordinary purpose which needs the attention of the whole Society.
VI. "The President" shall be a member of the Society and be as regular an attendant of Meetings as possible. The President will chair any Committee Meetings that take place and is responsible for the general running of the Society.
VII. "The Secretary" shall be a member of the Society and be as regular an attendant of Meetings as possible. The Secretary will take any minutes deemed necessary at any Committee Meetings which take place and will stand in for the President in the event of his absence. The Secretary is also responsible for managing the mailing lists and arranging Meetings.
VIII. "The Treasurer" shall be a member of the Society. The Treasurer shall be concerned with any financial business relating to the Society. The Treasurer is responsible for managing the member list and will make a report at any Committee Meeting or Annual General Meeting.
IX. The Committee shall consist of the President, the Secretary and the Treasurer and at least one and no more than three other members of the Society.
X. The trustees of the Society shall be the President, the Secretary, the Junior Treasurer (previously and hereafter referred to as "The Treasurer") and the Senior Treasurer. The Treasurer will hold a bank account in the name of the Society, the signatories of which shall be The Treasurer and one other trustee.
XI. This Constitution may only be amended by a two-thirds majority at an Annual General Meeting or Extraordinary General Meeting. No vote on a Constitutional amendment shall be valid unless either; one quarter of the Society's membership is present at the meeting or the motion to amend the Constitution was published with the notice of the meeting.
XII. Dissolution.
I. A motion calling for the dissolution of the Society shall be treated in the same way as one affecting the constitution.
II. If such a motion is passed, the assets of the Society shall be split equally between its members.
