T H E C A S T
(and what they had to say about themselves)

Ben Lumsden - Macheath - Ben is a third year nasal-hair pruning analyst at Clare. He's done a few shows here and there but mainly is looking to become a rock star. Anyone reading this know someone at Virgin?

Susanne Sheehy - Polly Peachum Susanne is a third year medic at New Hall, who sings with Fitz Swing Band, and is also in a close harmony jazz group at Queens. In the past she has sung with Trinity Hall Chapel Choir, and the Cambridge University Singers.

Simon Masterton Peachum - Simon is a fourth year linguist at Clare, who wants to be an actor/singer. During his time at Cambridge he has been in a long list of productions including: Fame, Rink, Closer than Ever, Sweeney Todd, and City of Angels. A true man of the world, he has also acted in Edinburgh and Peru.

Stacey Blades Mrs Peachum - Stacey is a fourth-year linguist with a penchant for all things French. Hailing from Grimsby (well, somebody has to...) this is her first Cambridge musical though she was seen treading the boards in Caligula and Cyrano de Bergerac in 1998 and got the chance to be a super-bossy director of Stags and Hens for Brickhouse in 1999. She brings a love of chocolate, nagging and ironing to her role as Mrs Peachum and can't wait to put on that padding...

Rebecca Mills Lucy Brown - Beckie is a second year English student at Robinson. Her thesp-related activities in Cambridge include roles in The Changeling, Dr Faustus and A Midsummer Night's Dream. She put on a 'convincingly woolly' performance as Hester Macauley in Bearing Gifts by John Finnemore at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2000.

Lola Adesioye Jenny Lola's first love is singing and as a result she has taken part in various plays and performances, including LWT's 50th birthday celebration (with Young Pleasance Youth Theatre) and singing for the Queen on V-Day day a few years ago. 'I would love to do professional musical theatre. My biggest regret is not turning up to my audition when I got recalled for The Lion King, thinking it was just a small-scale production! How wrong could I be!'. Lola is a fresher, studying Italian and Spanish at Robinson College.

Ben Jewell - "Tiger" Brown - Ben escaped from rehearsals about three weeks ago. His part will be played by a confused fool we found wandering the streets.

Andrew Nutter- Filch, Crookfinger Jake - Ever since he was a "small" boy, Andrew has been cursed with a misfortune. His silly name, towering height and pathetic allegiance to the French Stripy T-shirt Society are to be blamed. His favourite animal is the yak and he can dextrously control his ear lobe over a distance of a centimetre. "Bof".

Vincent Holden - Readymoney Matt - Vincent (or Vinny) comes from a town just outside Newcastle called Gateshead. He's in the first year of a geography degree at Robinson, yet has time to do loads of sports and some kind of opera thing (wonder what it could be?) He hopes that this play will be a springboard for future acting in his next three years at Cambridge.

Pamela Dusu - Coaxer - Pam has played the part of Nell Gwynn in Plackets and Pockets at the Pleasance Theatre, London, and hopes to become a barrister.

Jo Cohen - Molly - Jo would like to stress that acting is the crucial word for tonights performance as a prostitute..and if it has to be mentioned then she would prefer "sexual assistant". Just to prove she is not to be typecast she would like to add that she did play Olivia in Twelfth Night, a tourist in Guys and Dolls and a feminist scientist in the ADC Edinburgh show of Closer than Ever. Still since this is probably her last show in Cambridge she decided to go out with a bang...

Frances Allsop Betty/Actor (Rev. Kimball)/Smith - Small plastic chairs and classrooms are more Fran's usual environment, but she does hope to have taught all the cast members to tie their own shoelaces by the end of the run! She would like to point out that this will be her first experience of being a hooker and to please be gentle with her.

Daniel Danisch Mr Bertolt Brecht/Street Singer/Bob the Saw Dan studies Business at Anglia, and brings a certain amount of German authenticity to the production, right from his audition
