RULESETS
We develop these for various assassinesque activities. Our concerns are:
a) interpretation - the rules will be split into three sorts, denoted suggestively by Gold , Silver and bronze . In essence,
and no excuse for getting into trouble or causing a nuisance.
That established, the other rules are trivial variants of fun ways how this game can be played.
c) Choosing a few underlying principles for bronze rules, from which considerably more detailed and widely-applicable bronze rules can be understood or even guessed rather than remembered as a collection of facts.
d) Preserving rather than discarding former and suggested bronze rule-options.
By providing interpretation, and much more so by our preservation of options, we plan to have two orders of magnitude more material covered here than is currently in use by the Cambridge Assassins' Guild. Regardless of the total amount of bronze material available, by our relating of many bronze rule-options to Silver and Gold restrictions as well as to a few bronze principles, our account is intended to be Entirely Comprehensible to All Manner of People. Furthermore, our material is structured conveniently so that a ruleset can be cut out of the General Ruleset much like a Gardener can Shape a Hedge. Finally, this collection of rules is certainly not closed. Both real life and the human imagination are irrational and infinitely complicated, so changes and new branches may appear at any order. Within a changing world, and with an increase and diversity in our and your experience, the current interpretation may require revision, or the need may arise for further Gold and different Silver, and different or better bronze principles may arise.
N.B these are our rules, or drawing-boards for rules, i.e. you may find that assassin games/activities which have nothing to do with us may be run differently. We encourage debate about assassin rules, ours, yours or anyone else's, particularly as concerns well-being, safety and staying out of trouble. If you have any issues regarding the rules of killer, mail us at also-allsouls(at)srcf.ucam.org
Our Endeavours to Date:
Our General Ruleset This is our opinion of how Ruleset Building works, with the most important rules explained in detail.
SafetyNet1 Sample cautious ruleset, currently attuned to 1-week games in and around univesity campuses. Extended version for assassin organizers to consider.
Safetynet2 Is even more cautious, based on zonal bans with sealed-off transport of zonally banned toy weapons [Expected Summer 06].
Safetynet 3 Is what to do if even supersoakers require banning on safety grounds [We currently judge this to be overkill].
Safetynet1, version brief enough to be used by players
Rules Variants Archive All of raw rules, rules for past killing events and comments on the meaning and history of the rules of Killer.
